What is a Vocaloid?
Hatsune Miku is an example of a vocaloid. Vocaloids are voice synthesiser programs which can be put into software to create vocal affects without the need for a singer. Another name for vocaloids is voice banks. Voice actors and singers will record their voices and then those audio clips will be made into the voice bank, which can be free or can be purchased to be used by anyone.
HATSUNE MIKU?!?!?!
Hatsune Miku is the most popular and mainstream vocaloid in western media. Her voice comes from Japanese voice actress Saki Fujita, also known for playing Ymir in Attack on Titan and Cure Macaron in Pretty Cure All Stars F. The Hatsune Miku voice bank was developed by Crypton Future Media, who also developed Kagamine Rin/Len and Megurina Luka.
